KUALA LUMPUR:

MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo) returns to business to Amsterdam after a four-year break, as flight MH6162 landed at around 10 am local time at the Amsterdam Schipol Airport. Over 50 tons of general cargo and medical equipment were carried on the A330 freighter.

Chief executive officer Ibrahim Mohamed Salleh said the freight airline was scheduled in May for weekly flights.

"Apart from long-distance connectivity, it provides our customers with increased access to the European market and facilitates our network and passenger-on-cargo (P2C) flights.

"To take this route ourselves is a lot of work, but in a very short time the MASkargo and Malaysia Airlines teams made it possible, and we do have an excellent team at Amsterdam led by Keesjan de Vries, our Europe Regional Sales Manager and who managed matters for this to take place."

Ibrahim said in January 2016, the last time MASkargo flew to Amsterdam Schipol Airport.

"While the market is unpredictable, the key to adaptation to the rapid shift in the business environment will be innovation and unconventional," he said.

Meanwhile, Mark Jason Thomas, Chief Commercial Officer said the P2C flights showcase the capacities of the company.

"We strive to incorporate creative solutions to ensure that the expectations of our customers are met," he said.
