KUALA LUMPUR:

AirAsia has announced it will implement various new procedures to ensure a seamless and safe travel experience for essential travel, including contactless airport payments, contactless kiosks, the Passenger Reconciliation Systems (PRS), and the enhanced mobile device functionality.

The airline has developed contactless payment options including AliPay Wave and WeChat Pay at Malaysia klia2, which will eventually include other airports. Available soon will also be other services such as BigPay and Touch N Go.

The Passenger Reconciliation System (PRS) will be available at klia2 and will soon be followed by other Malaysian airports where AirAsia operates.

The PRS does not require an interchange of boarding passes between guests and the AVSEC (aviation security).

Moreover, by scanning all boarding passes at the door instead of collecting stubbles, AirAsia has also digitized the boarding process.

AirAsia GroupCCO, Javed Malik, said: “In addition to the existing strict safety measures on-ground, such as social distancing markers and Allstars wearing personal protective equipment, we are pleased to introduce our updated contactless procedures to deliver a more secure, safe, efficient, and contactless experience for our guests across the region. The safety of our guests and Allstars is our utmost priority and these additional enhancements demonstrate our continued commitment to keeping flying safe in the new normal environment for air travel.”
