KOTA KINABALU :

AirAsia Community remains committed to assisting the authorities concerned in repatriating passengers and shipping goods.

AirAsia Group reiterated in a statement that the COVID-19 pandemic has led to extensive and growing border restrictions imposed by various countries, AirAsia Group said it is temporarily hibernating most of its fleet over the network.

The statement also confirmed that the online marketplace of AirAsia and its Teleport cargo and logistics network would remain operational, with Teleport using passenger aircraft to transport medical assistance and protective equipment intended for hospitals and emergency responders at selected destinations.

The statement came in response to public concern about AirAsia flights still arriving from China to Sabah, following the decision by the state government to suspend all scheduled and chartered flights from China to Sabah with immediate effect until further notice.

The statement also promised that their aircraft will periodically disinfect to contain or destroy infectious agents and reduce the risk of disease spreading.

"We do so only by using items which are licensed by the Public Health Authority and the aircraft manufacturer for washing, sanitizing and disinfecting," read the statement.
