BENIN :

Benin is now the newest country to affirm its voluntary participation in the Carbon Offsetting and Mitigation Scheme of International Aviation (CORSIA) for the International Civilian Aviation Organization (ICAO).

It takes the total number of countries to 83 as the CORSIA voluntary pilot process begins in 2021 as their international flight emissions are offset.

Together, 76.64 percent of international scheduled flights currently operate. COVID-19 limits on global migration continue to reduce the market for air traffic from Benin. Benin is optimistic.

Whereas COVID-19 has a major effect on air travel, the final effects on air traffic in 2020 remain unknown. The effect of COVID-19 is now being closely monitored by ICAO, and the design dimensions of CORSIA now include the prospect of scrutiny, precautions and, if necessary schematic changes.
