PENANG:

Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 virus, the Penang Dragon Boat Regatta 2020, originally scheduled to take place on June 13th to June 14 has been canceled.

Today, Yeoh Soon Hin, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Heritage said that after the feedback obtained from the participants the dragon boat regatta was canceled.

"There are many foreign participants who have registered for the event and many applications have been submitted for having to cancel or rescheduling the event.

"We would also like to ensure that everybody takes part in the event in a healthy and comfortable setting," he said.

Yeoh hoped that the crisis would be over soon so that lovers and enthusiasts of dredging boat racing could look forward in December this year to attend the Penang International Dragon Boat Festival.
