SARAWAK:

Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said that federal and Sarawak governments will work to establish and encourage the arts and culture.

He said that he had discussed the matter with Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

He added that an economic creativity working group was set up and co-chaired by Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Crafts, and Culture of Malaysia (MOTAC).

“Arts and culture involve more than one agency, and that the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and MOTAC are the two leading agencies,” he told reporters after paying a courtesy call on Abdul Karim at the latter’s office at Bangunan Baitulmakmur here.

Meanwhile, Abdul Karim welcomed the collaboration, saying that it would be of mutual benefit.
