Forest management unit urges various parties to promote FMU as Eco-tourism spot

The Chief Conservador of Sabah Forest, Datuk Mashor Mohd Jaini, said that there was a growing number at Forest Management Unit (FMU) of visitors and tourists, which needed a concerted effort by various parties to promote the FMU as an attractive environmental tourism area.

"This will strengthen coordination and cooperation with the District Office, the Sabah Tourism Board, the Tourism Operators Board, local residents, the FMU 10 Malim, or the Guides and other stakeholders," he said.

He said that Malaysians at Sabah were delighted to have unique and exciting natural resources ranging in mountainous areas and beaches when they finished the FMU 10 Guide Course in the Sah Handicraft Centre. Here he said.

He said plants like Rafflesia, monkey, animals such as Elephants and Orang Utans, Sipadan Island and the highest mountain of Malaysia, Mount Kinabalu and Trus Madi were all included. He said these are plants.

"I understand that this course will train visitors and tourists to the local community in the area of FMU 10.

He stated that the FMU is a Class I Forest Reserve forest conservation area consisting of three reservations of forests Nuluhon Trusmadi Reserve, Nuluhon Trusmadi (Extension) and the River Kiluyu Forest Reserve with an area of around 88 045 hectares.

The FMU 10 is full of interesting fauna and flora, including landscapes, according to Mashor.

He said that visiting FMU particularly Mount Trusmadi, the highest mountain in Malaysia after Mount Kinabalu, at 2,642 meters above sea level was a natural attraction for domestic and foreign tourists.

He added that the FMU 10 is also the subject of two other popular mountain activities: 2.603 meters of Mount Sinsing and 2.482 meters of Mount Kaingaran.

He said that the Sabah Forestry Department is designing the FMU10 in addition to the mountain climbing activities and offering other eco-tourism and forest recreation activities, such as visits to wildflowers, bird watching, the night safari activities for night watching of wildlife and insect watching.
