KOTA KINABALU:

Sabah established the legal history of the new Kota Kinabalu Court complex, Tuesday, with the opening of the country's first judicial museum and art gallery.

The Sabah & Sarawak Judicial Museum was jointly opened by Chief Justice of Malaysia Tan Sri Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat and Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Tan Sri David Wong Dak Wah.

Also present were the Chief Judge of Malaya, Tan Sri Dato Sri Azahar Mohamed, Federal Court's Registrar, Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh, and Amelati Parnell, Sabah and Sarawak Registrar, among others. Wong who is retired today (Wednesday) said the museum is on its fifth floor to tell the history that has been overlooked since Malaysia was founded.

"We're not only here one day to see this museum, but all our lives. I wish to thank the Committee that has worked relentlessly to make a dream come true for this important project. Their hard work has contributed greatly to ensuring that today's and future generations hear the judiciary story.

He added he was inspired by how his visits to courts in the U.S. and UK demonstrated their history and artifacts, "In this museum, you will notice extensive planning and research carried out by the team to preserve our own and the story of the past generation."
