KOTA KINABALU :

By signing a collaboratory memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the 5 G TechCity in Malaysia Maxis and Huawei Technologies Malaysia (Huawei) prepare for the next frontier with 5 G innovation and development.

At Huawei's headquarters in Shenzhen, Maxis and Huawei signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 8 January to discuss and cooperate on Kuala Lumpur's TechCity project.

Through collaboration, the two companies will work to provide 4 G and 5 G capacity solutions for an unparalleled personalized experience, 5 G network design innovation, deployment and operating effectiveness as well as a 5 G Innovation Lab to develop and market new 5 G case applications for various industries when the new 5 G spectrum is provided.

TechCity is an effort aimed at developing an outstanding 5 G target network, building new technologies with new business models and creating a smart, connected world that is the best user experience.

This program includes joint branding and innovation of successful applications throughout the country. With this partnership, Maxis joins leading international operators in closer research and development cooperation and privileged access to the new 5G-usage case innovations. In leading cities like London, Seoul, and Tokyo, Huawei had already unveiled the TechCity initiative.

Guo Ping, Rotating Chairman of Huawei said, "We will succeed in creating and replicating 5 G solutions in global markets in future by work together on the TechCity initiative based on local demand. Huawei will support Malaysia to become a leader in 5 G ecosystem innovation and development, "said Huawei.

"Maxis and Huawei are taking innovation to the next level by examining new technologies to provide outstanding user experiences and better network efficiency through this TechCity collaboration.

We are excited to be part of this program and to have Maxis always been at the forefront of new technologies, which we find to be a source of many opportunities for our customers in the future, "said Gokhan Ogut, CEO of Maxi's group.

With the emergence of new digital services, apps, and business, the mobile network is being extended as more connected users, better customer experience, and more application services are being offered.

Innovative solutions will be required to address growth in traffic. Maxis and Huawei signed an agreement in October 2019 on the provision of a 5 G network to deliver Malaysia's most successful 5 G innovation.

The partnership of TechCity aims to form the environment of Malaysia's future digital services. In the digital economy and the business 4.0 industry, the 4G-5 G networks will play a key role. Maxis and Huawei will build technologies and frameworks in support of specific and locally-based 5 G applications that benefit consumers and businesses in Malaysia through the establishment of the Innovation Lab.
