Penang 2030 vision:16 strategic initiatives inline to attract investors and stakeholders to invest in Penang.

In line with the Penang 2030 vision, The Penang government has now drawn up 16 strategic initiatives to attract investors and stakeholders to invest in Penang.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow giving his opening speech during the FMM 50th Anniversary Dinner at Equatorial Hotel said the strategic initiatives would drive the state’s economic growth in a positive direction, apart from enhancing competitiveness and the people’s quality of life. “Each initiative has four themes, divided according to the jurisdiction of the members involved.” He added.

The initiatives are well-put as women’s development, community welfare, digital infrastructure improvement, tourism and culture, housing, and safer, smart and green technology. Chow said that to lead the 16 initiatives, 16 members comprising of the council and executive council (exco) members from the State Economic Planning Division has been selected to lead is based on the portfolios and experiences.

He was quoted saying that the members are selected at the discretion of chief minister, state secretary and top officials of the state government, and the members must cooperate to achieve the objectives of the initiatives.

Besides Chow, other panel speakers were lawyer Datuk Joshua Kevin, Penang Dapsy treasurer Benji Ang, and Pertubuhan Sihat Selalu chairman Dr Chong Ren Jye.
