KUALA LUMPUR:

Plenitude Bhd has completely shut down its three-star hotel operations while reducing its other hotel operations due to a COVID-19 pandemic that forced the government to implement the Movement Control Order (CPP).

The company said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia that the shutdown hotel operations were Mercure Penang Beach and The Gurney Resort Hotel and Residences in Penang in addition to Travelodge Ipoh in Perak.

"With domestic and global travel restrictions, our hotel chain is experiencing a significant decline in business. The company has no alternative but to shrink business and operations.

"This will be implemented immediately," he said.

Plenitude said management will continue to monitor the current situation carefully and take all precautions to ensure the safety of guests and staff.
