The Penang International Container Art Festival 2020 was unveiled at Aspen Vision City

BATU KAWAN :

 The Penang International Container Art Festival (PICAF) 2020 was unveiled at Aspen Vision City in Batu Kawan today to celebrate Penang’s vibrant art scene from now until the end of May 2020. 

State Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee (PETACH) chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said this container art installation will be a tourist attraction and they will be getting more information about Batu Kawan.

"On behalf of the people of Batu Kawan, I welcome your visit here. As we already know, Batu Kawan is the perfect place to display the results of creative works that are in line with Penang's development plan by making it a modern city of Penang."Yeoh said at the launch of the container art installation at Aspen City.

"Drawings by Emmanuel Jarus of Canada and Caryn Koh of Kuala Lumpur has produced a work of art that has an impact on art lovers as well tourists who visit this place".

He also added that these paintings have symbolic value in the Penang Strait and also in the second Penang Bridge (Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah) which links Back Island to South Perai.

Also present at the launch is Bukit Tambun assemblyperson YB Goh Choon, Chief Financial Officer of Aspen Group Lim Soo Aun, Penang Global Tourism Board Member  Dato 'Seri R. Arunetai,  Chief Executive Officer of Penang Global Tourism, Mr. Ooi Chok Yan, Ooi Chok Yan, CAN CAN Public Art chief executive officer Tan Chor Whye and TLM Event Sdn Bhd managing director Jack Wong.

The first PICAF installation was launched at Kampung Terang in Balik Pulau, in the middle of a large paddy field.

The festival aims to engage local and international tourists to witness the state's diversity through arts according to the ' Experience Penang 2020 ' initiative, which is focused on the Penang's local identities.

The free-to-attend festival aims to engage local and international visitors to experience the diversity of the state through the arts, in line with the Experience Penang 2020 campaign.
