CHINA :

The West China Hospital associated with Sichuan University donated a batch of isothermal nucleic acid amplification microfluidic chip analysers and nucleic acid test kits capable of detecting and distinguishing six respiratory viruses, including the novel coronavirus to the Georgian government.

On 22 February the Chinese National Medical Products Management approved the virus detecting device, co-developed by Tsinghua University, Beijing University, as well as by a biotech company from Chengdu, headed by renowned Chinese respiratory specialist Zhong Nanshan and epidemiologist Li Lanjuan.

The kit can detect six common respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, in 1.5 hours with secretional samples obtained from the noses and throats of the patients, which will enhance the precision of the diagnosis and assist patients in their rapid care.

23 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Georgia at 12 pm on 11 March.

The Embassy in Georgia in China, on behalf of the Georgian Government, sought support from the Sichuan Province government, after hearing about the efficacy of the virus test kit.

The provincial government of Sichuan provided the medical supplies to the hospital.
