28 countries participated in the OBS CNY Run

The year of Rat was ushered earlier today at Beach Street with the third edition of the OBS Chinese New Year Run today

Close to 6,800 participants from 28 countries converged at Beach Street to take part in this five-kilometer fun run.

The event was flagged off at Beach street by the Penang State Exco of Youth and Sports, Yb Soon Lip Chee.

" These types of sports can enhance and attracted the tourist because some tourists will be visiting the country and would like to join sports events," he said to the press.

He also encourages all to partake in various sports programs to be healthy and fit.

The organizer also said that this the largest number of participants joined for the past three years. 

Through this run, the participants will enjoy the elegance of the historic buildings and experience Georgetown's uniqueness.

As a gesture of ushering prosperity and good fortune, traditional lion dance and dragon dance was performed and the ‘God of Prosperity’ also made his appearance at the event.
