The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture will provide approved tour operators and tour guides with a compound discount of up to 40 percent.
In a statement, MOTAC also confirmed that the compound payment term for all the compounds given to these operators and guides was extended until 30 June next year.
“The ministry hopes that this initiative can help ease the burden of industry players affected by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the statement said.
MOTAC said that the Tourism Industry Act 1992 [Act 482] set down flexibility in compound matters for approved tour operators and tour guides.
“Nevertheless, the ministry stressed that failure to settle the compounds issued could result in action being taken against the relevant companies or tour guides,” the statement read.
