THAILAND :

The second hotel operator in Thailand, SET-Listed Assets World Corp Plc (AWC), declares the temporary hotel shutdown in Bangkok.

AWC CEO and President Wallapa Traisorat said that the closures on Tuesday were intended to reduce the possibility of spreading the disease virus of Covid-19.

About 2,000 workers would continue to earn their salaries during the closure and all staff would have to stay at home and not move to other provinces in compliance with the government policy.

The five hotels being closed are the Queen's Park Hotel Bangkok Marriott Marquis, the Bangkok Hotel Le Meridien Bangkok, The Okura Hotel Prestige Bangkok, and the Surawongse Hotel The Bangkok Marriot Hotel.

They will be closed from March 26 to April 15.

"We are concerned about the difficult situation in Thailand and are working to reduce the danger to the public by reducing major events and the need for people to travel, particularly in Bangkok," said Ms. Walapa.

She said that during the closure, hotels would be cleaned and improved extensively, to guarantee the well-being of visitors and staff when the situation is easier and re-opened.
