56 public markets will be introduced to the e-wallet operating system by June

By June of this year, the Government of Penang intends to fully introduce the e-wallet operating system in each public market in the state.

Jagdeep Singh Deo, Chairman of the Committee of State Housing, Local Government, Town, and Country Planning said the State government received positive feedback on the use of e-wallets from public market traders.

"I directed the Penang City Council (MBPP) and the MBSP to introduce the system in all the Penang public markets," he said after launching the e-wallet application at Taman Tun Sardon Public Market.

He added that Penang has 26 public markets under MBPP and 30 public markets under MBSP.

While Jagdeep, who is also Datuk Keramat Assemblyman, stated that during the duration of the Movement Control Order (MCO), a total of 219.536 premises have been inspected in Penang.

He reported that MBPP and MBSP had an MCO compliance rate of 99.45% and 99.32%, respectively.
