Kuala Lumpur:

Malaysia’s tourism industry is set for a major boost as global digital travel platform Agoda teams up with Tourism Malaysia in a strategic two-year partnership to promote the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

The Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC), signed this week, aims to leverage Agoda’s global reach, cutting-edge technology, and marketing expertise to spotlight Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage, natural wonders, and vibrant cities to both domestic and international travellers.

This collaboration will feature targeted digital campaigns across Agoda’s platform and social media channels, showcasing Malaysia’s iconic offerings — from its world-famous culinary scene, pristine beaches, and lush rainforests, to its UNESCO-listed heritage sites and dynamic festivals. The partnership will also help strengthen Malaysia’s tourism positioning as the country gears up for VM2026, with an ambitious goal of attracting 45 million international tourists.

Speaking at the signing, Fabian Teja, Country Director of Malaysia at Agoda, said:

“This partnership reflects our commitment to helping travellers discover the best of Malaysia by connecting them to the country’s incredible destinations through technology and engaging content. We are excited to play a role in elevating Malaysia’s tourism profile globally in the lead-up to Visit Malaysia 2026.”

Tourism Malaysia’s Director-General Datuk Manoharan Periasamy added:

“Digitalisation is a key pillar of our tourism promotion strategy. Partnering with Agoda allows us to tap into valuable data insights, reach a wider audience, and promote Malaysia more effectively. We believe this collaboration will significantly contribute to achieving our VM2026 goals.”

The agreement also includes joint efforts in capacity-building initiatives, such as workshops on traveller behaviour insights and sustainable tourism practices, to foster responsible tourism development and enhance visitor experiences.

As Malaysia sets the stage for Visit Malaysia 2026, this partnership is seen as a milestone in strengthening the country’s tourism innovation and reinforcing its status as a leading travel destination in Southeast Asia.
