Sarawak Targets 5 Million Visitors and RM12.73 Billion in Tourism Revenue for 2025

KUCHING: Sarawak has set an ambitious goal of attracting five million visitors and generating RM12.73 billion in tourism revenue for 2025, announced Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

 

Presenting his winding-up speech at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, Abdul Karim expressed confidence in achieving this target, citing robust performance in the first four months of 2025. From January to April, Sarawak welcomed 1.6 million visitors, contributing RM4.07 billion in tourism receipts.

 

Brunei continues to lead as the top source of visitors, accounting for 514,015 arrivals, followed by Indonesia (236,054), China (24,865), Singapore (18,637), and the Philippines (14,482).

 

In 2024, Sarawak recorded 4.83 million visitors and RM12.45 billion in tourism revenue, up from RM9.9 billion in 2023.

 

With sustained growth in both regional and international markets, Sarawak remains optimistic about exceeding its tourism targets for 2025.
