SARAWAK:

AirAsia has been named the Annual Treasurer of the Airline at the Asia Pacific 100 Aviation Awards.

AirAsia chief of finance Farhan Zainul and Asia Aviation Capital Senior Advisor Aaron Gomez received the award at a gala event held in Hong Kong on November 6th.

AirAsia won the award based on the financial performance and revenue of its company for each passenger performance, flight order, and network and volume expansion. In 2018-2019, AirAsia has entered into two major portfolios with BBAM and Castlelake LP worth US $ 3.6 billion. Both transactions involve more than 100 aircraft.

The transaction not only proves that the team is efficient in securing funds but is also capable of designing the financing structure of the aircraft and this is not a common feature of the transaction.

This year, too, AirAsia made global headlines when it announced at the 2019 Paris Air Show about upgrading a single-lane Airbus aircraft by changing 253 bookings for the A320neo to the larger Airbus A321neo.

In August 2019, long-haul carrier AirAsia X has expanded its booking with Airbus by signing a $ 5 billion deal for 12 Airbus A330-900 and 30 A321XLR aircraft.
