MALAYSIA:

The Art of Miniature, a medieval art miniature, has been inscribed on the UNESCO Official List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

It represents events in a realistic way thus keeping with the conventional rules of Islamic art, which forbids Islamic figures.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey has praised UNESCO in its statement Wednesday for adding to the list "Art of Miniature."

“Our multinational nomination file of ‘Art of Miniature,’ submitted with Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Uzbekistan, has been inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity during the 15th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage being held online between 14-19 December 2020.”

“The number of our cultural elements inscribed on the Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage has reached 19,” Anadolu Agency quoting the statement added.

The ministry said, "Turkey will continue decisively to preserve the rich cultural values that are part of our long-term history, and to cherish them and promote them."
