KOTA KINABALU:

With the first online screening of the documentary film Sharkwatter titled Extinction, Borneo Eco Film Festival (BEFF) is launching its  BEFF365 programme on July 14 at 9 pm.

The screening is in conjunction with Shark Awareness Day and will be held on BEFF's website at https://beff.org.my.

The award-winning Sharkwater: Extinct is an exciting and inspiring action-packed voyage that follows filmmaker Rob Stewart as he exposes the enormous illegal shark fin industry and the corruption behind it that causes the sharks to be extinguished.

"This year's series of films features award-winning local and international films highlighting environmental and social issues as well as biodiversity," said the statement.

At least 10 films will be made available to viewers in the latter half of 2020, all free of charge.

The audience will be able to engage with chosen panelists from various fields, as well as with the filmmakers of the featured films from all over the world.

BEFF365 is organized by the voluntary body, Melapi (Society for Holistic Outreach, Research, and Environmental Action). BEFF is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, Movies That Matter (MtM), and Shared Earth Foundation, among others.

BEFF is also a member of the Green Film Network (GFN) – a network of environmental film festivals around the world.
