PUTRAJAYA :

Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) suspends temporarily Pakistan 's existing license holders who are employed in Malaysia.

His chief executive officer, Chester Voo, said following Pakistan 's Minister of Aviation, Ghulam Sarwar Khan statement on an unprecedented number of Pakistani pilots holding fake licenses.

“After an evaluation of all foreign pilots employed in Malaysia and the interest of the safety and security of Malaysia’s civil aviation, CAAM is temporarily suspending Pakistani license holders who are currently employed by local operators," Voo said in a statement.

He said the PAC revealed that 262 out of 860 active Pakistani pilots had not attended the pilot tests and that 40% of the pilots, including inactive, had fake licenses.

Based on this development, several countries had made an announcement that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would ground Pakistani pilots in their countries and ban their flight from operating in and outside of their countries.

Voo added that CAAM is currently making all efforts to verify with PCAA that these Pakistani license owners were genuine, adding that in collaboration between CAAM and PCAA, the Pakistani license owners' records will be checked.

"Licence holders that are verified as valid by PCAA will be reinstated immediately," he said
