IPOH:

Tourism Malaysia has developed domestic packages for civil servants with special rates.

The deputy director of its northern region, Mr. Yoganthiran, said packages include tours and accommodation.

"We are waiting for the interstate travel ban to be lifted because the packages we promoted have received good response from the public.

"Many have booked the packages beforehand and we are predicting the domestic tourism sector will bounce back once interstate travel is allowed," he said.

Although the pandemic affected tourism, Yoganthiran said things would change for the better.

"To discuss the possibility of developing more interested Tourist Packages and discussing other issues related to tourism we're meeting with tourist players from Penang, Perak, Penang and Perlis," he stated.

"We will now be able to produce more tourism products involving all four northern states because of the Toursim Malaysia office in the northern region.

"Perak, for instance, has its own coffee signature. We can probably go on a coffee-trail to see where and how coffee is produced," he said.
