East Japan railway opens Japan Rail Cafe for tourists to know more about Japan

On 5 March 2020, East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) will open the Tokyo Station Japan Rail Cafes a place where tourists abroad can interact and collect information on Japan from the season.

Japan Rail Cafe helps visitors to share Japan's seasonal charms with the increasing diversity of ways to enjoy their journeys.

To this end, the cafe is going to offer income tourists up-to-date information about different areas of Japan, which can not be accessed by guides or online, "only now" and "only for yourself," as well as one-stop service to travel help.

JAPAN RAIL CAFE helps foreign travelers interact and discuss areas to visit and the charm of their hometowns and thus exchange ideas of trips to Japan.This cafe will be a center for excursions to Japan, encouraging tourists to meet other travelers.

In conjunction with tourism promotion campaigns being undertaken across the country, JR East will establish an information and consultation counter at the JAPAN RAIL CAFE to propose specific travel plans in Japan.

The Japan Rail Pass and other tickets specially designed for foreign visitors and JR tickets and IC cards for inbound tourists can be exchanged by locals.

In addition to these, seasonally-sold Japanese food and drinks, ekiben box lunches and specialty food products exclusively made for the coffee shop will be available at the café under the supervision of the Japanese tea producer-dealer Senchado Tokyo.

The cafe will help visitors appreciate Japan's culinary culture, share the experience with other tourists and learn more about food crops in different regions by engaging with staff.

In tandem with tourism promotions in various parts of Japan, a wide 140-inch screen will be mounted to allow users to experience virtual travel in Japan. Visitors may also enjoy searching for travel information through the digital signaling "Wall SHOP," which uses the results of the Rakuten group's internet research.

Furthermore, various video programs from "japan-guide.com" will be shown to provide visitors with up-to-date information on various travel destinations in Japan, which changes from season to season
