PETALING JAYA:

As people continue to remain indoors under the government’s movement control order (MCO) to control the ongoing spread of Covid-19. Nancy Shukri, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister encouraged Christians to celebrate Easter with joy through online networking.

In a statement, she said Good Friday and Easter Sunday are usually spent at church and with family and friends. But this year, the Christian celebrations demands to be spent at home.

She said “The inability to hug and spend in-person time with loved ones is disheartening. However, we should not look at loss or limitation with any kind of resentment. Instead, look at it as an opportunity to strengthen family bonds even from a distance.”

Adding that celebrations could still be held online and through virtual communication, she said this would be a “healthier and safer way” given the current pandemic crisis.

“We have all worked really hard, especially our heroes, the frontliners, to break the chain of Covid-19.

“That progress could be completely undone if we disobey the MCO.”

The MCO was implemented on March 18. It was originally meant to end on March 31, but was subsequently extended to April 14.
