MALAYSIA:

Passenger Train ETS Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will enjoy a more affordable fare as the company introduced a flexi fare structure begins March 1, 2020.

Implementation of these fare fares will allow ETS users to better plan their spending and travel experience.

“It allows consumers to get more cost-effective travel tickets according to their preferences and tastes.

“For example, for trips during the festive season and school holidays, consumers who book early will enjoy lower fares than those who buy them at the last minute.

"Consumers also have the opportunity to enjoy double savings through the promotions that will be offered from time to time," the Transport Ministry said in a statement today, Astro Awani reported.

According to him, tickets for the flex fares will go on sale on January 15, 2020, for travel to all ETS service destinations between March 1 and 31, 2020.

He said the implementation of the structure of the mine was approved by the Cabinet on September 18, 2019,
It follows a detailed study done on all aspects, especially regarding passenger profiles and ETS service operations.

"It is also in line with the government's desire to ensure that people receive the best services and continue to choose public transport such as trains as their top choice," he added.

In addition to these fare fares, KTMB also offers a free “Seating Selection” promotion for passengers to make seating options at no additional charge for travel between March 1 and 31, 2020 to all destinations.

Besides, KTMB still offers concessionary fares for government retirees and their wives, seniors, Persons with Disabilities, children 4 - 12, students (KTM i-cardholders), police, military, and firefighters.

According to the ministry, the ETS service, which began operating between Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh in 2010, recorded 215,000 in its first year of operation.

To date, the service, which has expanded to the Gemas and Padang sectors, recorded 3.9 million passengers in 2018, proving its growing popularity.

Among the factors that contributed to the increase in popularity were ETS service travel accuracy that exceeded 95 percent target, its customer service and the modern conveniences available on the train.
