Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that the foreign exchange in the tourism sector already surpassed the lower margin of US$2.07 billion and upper margin of US$5.95 billion during the third quarter of 2023.

"Foreign exchange for tourism surpassed US$6 billion with 3.76 percent contribution for tourism GDP," Sandiaga wrote in a statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

The value of exported creative economy products, Sandiaga added, reached US$11.82 billion with creative economy additional value of Rp691.75. Furthermore, Indonesia is slowly cracking the top 30 of the Travel and Tourism Development Index, placed at 32 as of November 14, 2023.

The number of tourism and creative economy workers has also surpassed its target with more than 45 million workers, consisting of 21.93 million tourism workers and 24.34 million creative economy workers.

"Foreign tourists were targeted for 8.5 million visits, and in September 2023 there were already 8.51 million visits," he said.

Meanwhile, the ministry only fulfilled 50 percent of the domestic tourism mobility in September, with 626 million out of the targeted 1.2 to 1.4 billion mobilizations.
