MALAYSIA:

Malaysians from all ages and ethnic backgrounds are drawn to the wide selection of mouthwatering treats offered at Ramadan bazaars during this holy month. The different cuisines and beverages offered at these bazaars equally impress and excite foreign travellers.

Elen Evans, a 23-year-old British tourist, was spotted taking in her first Ramadan bazaar experience at the Little India Ramadan bazaar.

"Ramadan month here is amazing and feels like a fiesta, but we never get this type of excitement back in England," she remarked.

With her five pals, Evans, a new graduate, was on holiday. Their fifth stop on the journey in Malaysia.

Before traveling to Malaysia, she and her pals visited Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

Evans claimed that while she liked the most of the meal, she had never encountered murtabak.

It was wonderful, a little spicy, and had lots of delicious ingredients. It was fantastic," she said.

Similar opinions were expressed by Evans' friend Molly Butler, 22, who called the Penang Ramadan bazaar fascinating and beautiful.

Even though it is the month of fasting, we can still find wonderful cuisine like this wherever therefore the food is extremely good.

She exclaimed, expressing excitement at trying nasi kandar for the first time, "There is just so much to explore here."

Stefan Bigmeau, a 51-year-old Canadian visiting with a group of French friends, said this was their first time traveling to Malaysia for vacation.

"I was advised to try the murtabak and roti jala at the market by the hotel receptionist where I am staying.

The self-proclaimed foodie said, "I loved it, and it wasn't disappointing."

Fabian Du, a 59-year-old visitor from France, claimed he had heard great things about the popular biryani rice at the Ramadan bazaar but was disappointed to find it was sold out.

He added that he had also tried tasting samosa, ais bandung, and some local kuih and promised to return to taste the biryani.
