KUALA LUMPUR :

Hong Kong was recently selected as the host city of four international MICE events, including the first-ever high-strategic events in Hong Kong and two recurring events amid COVID-19.

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) reports that these business events are expected to carry around 10,000 high-performance tourists and contribute greatly to the economic development of the city.

The events demonstrated Hong Kong's trust by international event organisers as a strategic, secure, and hygienic destination for high-profile business events. HKTB Chairman YK Pang said.

“The HKTB will continue to proactively engage international and Hong Kong organisers to bid for hosting rights of major MICE events and step up efforts in attracting repeated events to maintain Hong Kong’s status as The World’s Meeting Place.”

Medical science is one of the Board's MICE strategic goals. Hong Kong's MICE industry has been shot in the arms by the winning of The Congress of the Asian Cardiovascular Imaging Society 2022.

The Asia Sports Technology Conference 2021, the first sports B2B tech conference in Hong Kong and the Greater China Region, and the World Cargo Symposium 2022, the largest international air cargo conference, are both parts of a series of events held in Hong Kong.

The HKTB has prepared a series of recovery campaigns for the MICE industry and is closely monitoring the development of the pandemic in various source markets.
