GEORGETOWN :

In addition to IKEA Batu Kawan, Penang, Ikano Centers is launching a drive-through concept, which will be completely operational in the middle of next year.

The drive-through features complement IKEA's existing dine-in restaurant in a wide, leasable area of 200,744 sq ft.

The drive-thru concept has become an important part of the Malaysian lifestyle and can play a key role in the new standard, IKEA managing director Christian Roejkjaer said.

“Building our first drive-thru concept in Batu Kawan is one way for us to create a safe and positive space for the community to come out and enjoy their favorite food,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Ikano Centres have confirmed McDonald's Malaysia is the first partner to complete the on-the-go concept for food and beverages (F&B).

IKEA's exclusive shopping center partner across South East Asia said the fast-food restaurant will open its 16th stand-alone outlet in Batu Kawan, covering approximately 35.000 sq ft of space.

“Ikano Centres is already in dialogue with petrol station operators to meet the high demand within the growing township of Aspen Vision City in Batu Kawan,” it added.
