INDIA:

To strengthen the hospitality and tourism industry in India, the Ministry of Tourism inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yatra.

The event was held as part of a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and the Quality Council of India (QCI) to take steps to boost India's hospitality and travel industries.

The main goal of this collaboration is to give lodging units that have self-certified on the OTA platform using SAATHI (System for Assessment, Awareness, and Training for the Hospitality Industry) a lot of attention.

Both sides agree to encourage Units to register on NIDHI and hence on SAATHI, as well as to promote local tourism with necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The aim is to identify more information on accommodation units in order to get actionable insights and build evidence-based and targeted policy initiatives that encourage safe, honourable, and sustainable tourism.

Through the MoU, the Ministry of Tourism and Yatra will work together to encourage and promote strategic and technical co-operation in the Indian hospitality and tourism sector for the benefit of all stakeholders in the defined areas. More OTAs are expected to come forward in the future to sign such MOUs in order to improve India's hospitality and tourism industry.
