MALAYSIA:

The first Malaysian woman to be crowned Mrs Global Tourism 2023 is a mother of two.

Sangeet Kaur Manjit Singh, 41, won the Mrs. Tourism Queen International 2023 competition on April 15 in Nong Khai, Thailand, defeating 18 other competitors from various nations.

The education consultant's clothing, which was modelled after the Ngepan traditional Iban warrior attire, earned her the first runner-up spot for the finest national costume.

Being the pageant's winner feels terrific. And I won it on April 15, the day before my birthday," she added.

Being the first Malaysian to win the international title, Sangeet claimed she felt "on top of the world" and could not wait to make her homeland proud.

The Ipoh native and current Mrs. Malaysia Tourism Queen International said, "I always believe in following your passion, being prepared to work hard and make sacrifices, and above all, never allowing anyone to limit your goals.

It was the mother of two boys, 11 and 14, who admitted that she had never participated in a pageant before.

"My love of fashion brought me here. During my time in college, I participated in pageants, stage shows, and fashion," she continued.

Sangeet recalled that as a young child, she used to dress up like a beauty queen, put on her mother's lipstick, wrap her shawl over her, and walk down an imaginary runway in front of the mirror.

She exclaimed, "Dreams do come true!"

Sangeet said that she believed the time was ideal for her to enter the pageant because she was both emotionally and physically ready.

Thanks to the exercises I started doing three years ago, I feel fitter than I did as a youngster.

Additionally, she added, "I was captivated by the thought of representing and promoting tourism in my nation.

Sangeet stated that having a strong support structure has helped her in her current position as an ambassador.

"My family has been the most encouraging about my career and pageant participation. One of the ways I was able to pursue my aspirations was because my employer allowed me the option to work from home, she said.

Sangeet is looking forward to participating in initiatives to promote ecotourism and sustainable tourism as well as promoting sustainable business practices and improving travel destinations for tourists.
