CAMBODIA:

The Kep Provincial Administration is preparing plans and maps to expand the province's public recreation areas – from 300m to 3km along the province's nearly 27km coastline – in Thmey village of Kep town's Prey Thom commune to accommodate tourists.

On Monday, Provincial Governor Som Piseth said that the draught was about 70% complete and that it would be completed by April.

The plans were then submitted for approval to Chea Sophara, the Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.

Piseth confirms that Cambodia, although challenged with Covid-19, would not interfere with the development preparedness of the coastal regions of the province.

“Once approved, the plans will be displayed to the public, ” he said.

Accordingly, only 300 meters, which does not meet increasing demand from tourists annually, are currently developing on Kep's coastline. The coastline of the province is almost 27 kilometers long.

Ho Vandy, advisor to the Association of Tourism of Cambodia, said the provinces of Kep and neighboring Kampot continue to develop beaches according to the current situation of growth in tourism, under every provincial governor's mandate.
