MALAYSIA:

Kota Samarahan has its own attractions and could become one of the Special Investment Tourism Zones based on digital technology "niche tourism," said Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister.

She said Kota Samarahan has the potential also to be developed in the West Java area of Bandung, also known as a cybercity, such as the Cimahi Creative City.

Kota Cimahi has become a trend and a lifestyle for young people in the region based on the idea of creativity, innovation and digital technology, that can now build a community that lives in a digital environment, she added.

The DOTA 2 Versatile Dynamic Series 1 Tournament was therefore held in time and according to the strategy of the Ministry for Tourism, Arts and Culture, she said.

"The holding of this e-sports-based programme supports the government's initiative in the implementation of the National Digital Network Plan or JENDELA to prepare the country for the transition to 5G technology," she said when opening the "Versatile Dota 2 Championship" at D-Virtual Park.
