LABUAN:

The online payment system will take effect on Feb 1st as payment payments for sea transportation services from here to Sabah or Sarawak destinations go past.

For the five ferry boats currently on fixed schedules of between two and four daily trips, with staff at the counters standby, this online system will be fully compatible with the network via an application or token, called ' LabuanPay. '.

Yayasan Pembangunan Labuan (YPL) is responsible for the smooth operations of the terminal to ensure the smooth operation of sea transportation via Labuan International Ferry Terminal, LDA Holdings Sdn Bhd.

YPL President Datuk Rozman Isli said the cashless system will help Labuan travelers and vice versa – to make it more convenient, prepare and, above all, to improve the tourism sector.

"The days when travelers are disillusioned after tickets are over when they come to the terminal counter, ' he said on Wednesday, at the Labuan International Ferry Terminal, the launch of E-Wallet Labuanpay and e-ticketing.

The program was aligned with Labuan's vision for a cashless society. Rozman said.

"We hope that all outlets here will support ' LabuanPay, ' and Labuan can be transformed into a cashless island," he said.

Chairman of LDA Holdings Noor Halim Zaini reported that the terminal was used to fly to mainland Sabah and Sarawak by a total of 445,535 passengers and that last year it was handled by 457,533 people from mainland Labuan to nearly a million passengers (902,868).

"We'll start from Labuan to Menumbok (Sabah), Lawas and Limbang in Sarawak on Feb 1 and from Sabah and Sarawak in March destinations to Labuan," he said

Mobility One Sdn Bhd's cashless program is a collaborative effort with LDA Holdings, which aims to extend the financial technology (fintech) system to the roll-on roll-off (ro-ro) ferry services offered by Labuan.
