Malaysia Airlines’ flagship Platinum Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport is once again open for all top-tier Oneworld frequent flyers to enjoy, with the airline promising a renewed “focus on premium service offerings.”

Located next door to Malaysia Airlines’ Golden Lounge in KLIA’s Satellite Terminal, the Platinum Lounge serves as a de facto first class lounge, given that Malaysia Airlines no longer offers ‘first class’ on its Airbus A350 flights to London.

That primo cabin was rebranded as Business Suites in 2018, with upgraded seating and service compared to the A350’s standard business class.

Most guests at the Platinum Lounge are therefore drawn from the ranks of Malaysia Airlines’ won Enrich Platinum frequent flyers and their Oneworld Emerald equivalents (including Qantas and Qatar Airways Platinums), along with holders of CIMB Enrich World Elite Mastercard and of course first class passengers on any Oneworld airline.

Those visitors can look forward to an a la carte experience at the Platinum Lounge’s dedicated dining room, and retiring to a quiet corner of the lounge after their three-course meal – ranging from local Malaysian ox tail soup and of course Nasi Lemak to international classics – to enjoy some freshly-pulled teh tarik and a view over the tarmac.
