BUKIT MERTAJAM :

The Municipal Council of Seberang Perai (MBSP) has launched a program to train the retailer on proper food hygiene and new online order requirements.

MBSP Mayor Datuk Rozali Mohamud said the initiative also aims to familiarize traders and customers online and in cash-free payments and to use safety seals for food packaging to ensure their hygiene when transporting.

"MBSP has obtained 30 000 containers from the Tan Wah Group, via the food packaging hygiene campaign, that will be distributed with all the trader taking part in the campaign," he said.

Rozali said that the safety seal would give the customer trust in the hygiene and quality of the food packaged and would be entitled to refuse delivery if broken or harmed.

In another development, Rozali said that during the Movement Control Order (MCO), MBSP approved 89 applications by manufacturers at Seberang Perai.

'MBSP has received a total of 112 applications till 25 April, 89 of have been approved, 18 are still pending and five are incomplete.

"The applicants must include the Ministry of International Trade and Industry's letter of approval (MITI) then email the corresponding letter to 'datukbandar@mbsp.gov.my' with an application and approval form," he said.

He also promised that MBSP will serve as a facilitator for both avoiding 'red tape' and for streamlining operations across the MCO for all parties.
