MALAYSIA:

Passengers using fast boat services will be able to make their trip arrangements online from Labuan International Ferry Terminal to Menumbok, Limbang, and Lawas.

President Noor Halim Zaini of the LDA (Holdings) said after signing a Mobilityone Sdn Bhd Memorandum of Understanding to establish a system that will be operational before year-end.

It would further promote the use of boat services because of seating safety. Therefore, the system would not mean the ferry terminal would be overcrowded.

"People suffer from having to wait in queues particularly on holiday and weekends and finally all the seats are taken."

He also noted that two more express launches of passengers were in place on the Labuan-Menumbok route. The launches will leave without delay at fixed times. One is capable of carrying 30 passengers and another 48 is fitted with a toilet.

The ships take 30 minutes to reach the destination and are comfortable and safe. "It is about time the remaining high-speed fiberglass will gradually cut off."

Noor said that the operators were making their arrangements on online tickets for ro-ro ferries and once they were finalized, they would be linked to Lada (Holding) services.
