The latest container art installation of the inaugural Penang International Container Art Festival (PICAF) 2020 was officially launched at Kampung Terang ,Balik Pulau. The mural of the container art installation is a visual tale of the picturesque life of Balik Pulau,the town's agricultural industry and its hawker food locale.
Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Chow Kon Yeow said last year, Penang headlined as the 7th Most Instagrammed City at world of street painting locations.
"Penang International Container Art Festival (PICAF) which is going on will now again put Penang in map of the world as a major hub of culture and art in this northern region.This is the first time such a festival is held in Asia where the containers are drawn with murals.
Also present Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, YB Muhammad Bakhtiar Wan Chik and Penang State EXCO for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH), YB Yeoh Soon Hin preside over the opening ceremony of the festival.
Meanwhile Bakthiar said through the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture is dedicated to introducing Balik Pulau to the world as a special tourist destination.
"While you're at this PICAF site, remember to make it a focal point to search hidden gems at Balik Pulau by cycling or walking to explore the area.
The festival aims to engage local and international tourists to witness the state's diversity through arts according to the ' Experience Penang 2020 ' initiative, which is focused on the Penang's local identities.
Container art installations are focused on five distinctive backdrops that are George Town's heritage town, the Jelutong waterfront, Balik Pulau's rural centre historically rich Butterworth and Batu Kawan's modern trade hub.
