GEORGETOWN :

Residents and businesses of the Penang state will switch from the PGCare application to the MySejahtera contact-tracing app by the end of this month to facilitate the management of the COVID-19 pandemic by the Health Ministry.

Penang Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow, said he will recommend the switchover at the next State Executive Council Meeting (MMK).

“This is to adhere to the decision by the Federal Government and to protect PGCare users from running into problems,” he said at a press conference.

PGCare was launched on 15 May and consists of 1.35 million users and 35,521 registered businesses.

To date, 16.48 million business premises have been verified for visitor information, as required for the standard operating procedure ( SOP) of the National Security Council (MKN).

Chow said that he would ask state MKN to let enforcement agencies move to the My Sejahtera app, to be released by the chambers of the General attorney general's office and become mandatory by the end of the month.
