PENANG:

The state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said Penang needs to explore more unique tourism products, particularly in Seberang Perai.

He said the products such as Tasek Gelugor's Penang Frog Hill and Air Hitam Dalam Educational Forest are not so well-known but can draw tourists to the area.

“The promotion of different tourism products will ensure that the economic benefits are distributed across various districts and community in Penang especially in Seberang Perai.

“With domestic tourism expected as the main economic generator for the tourism industry for the next six months to a year, ecotourism would be an important segment for domestic tourism as it varies depending on topography and environment,” he said in a statement.

“I also believe that to push for Penang tourism, we need unique products that can only be found here.

“This way, we can ensure that tourists will return as Penang is the only state with these attractions and we need to be keep promoting different products,” he said.

He added that the  Air Hitam Dalam Educational Forest is family-friendly. It also offers nature lovers and bird watchers with a hanging bridge for thrill-seekers as one of the highlights.
