PENANG:

The State of Penang has taken constructive counter steps to ease the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to do so, said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

The state is aware of the unintended financial effects of companies and their residents, he said.

"Penang will play an important role in helping the economy survive this extraordinary phase with his rich manufacturing experience", he said in a statement.

Over the past 50 years, Penang's electric and electronics industry (E&E) has grown and diversified and will be ready to break new ground into the next step of the manufacturing technology, creative instruments, and modern standard products.

Chow also said that growing global demand for COVID-19 medical supplies, goods, and equipment will open doors to the medical devices industry in Penangs and build new businesses and employment.

In the meantime, he further noted that the State government aims to ensure the safer and healthier Penang complies with the standards of operations (sops), safety protocols and hygiene.
