The Penang State  Exco For Tourism and Creativity Economy will be focusing on further growing the creative industry and making it sustainable as a part of Penang’s economy.

State Tourism and Creativity Economy Exco Yeoh Soon Hin said that this is one of the inspirations behind the restructuring of the art, culture, and heritage to the Creative Economy portfolio.

“ With the correct initiatives, I am positive that the art and cultural aspect will not lose its historical roots, nor be pushed aside and forgotten in years to come “, he said during the press conference at Balik Pulau Craft Incubator Centre.

He also added that through the partnership of Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau ( PCEB) with Batek-Lah, the unique crafts brought out of Penang to various international partners can increase its visibility on global platforms.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau ( PCEB), Ashwin Gunasekaran said the Business Events industry for Penang not only focuses on just promoting the capacity of Penang but also include the local players in the art, culture, and heritage to enhance the full experience.

" We hope through this visitation, our industry partners would be able to consider this Balik Pulau Craft Incubator Centre as a unique event space to conduct a small experimental workshop for Batik Painting", he said.

Batek-Lah Collection was also given opportunities in exhibiting their Batik products which include t-shirts, dresses, handmade purses, and pencil cases during conference and exhibitions held in Penang with the approval of the organizers.

This initiative is also part of PCEB's additional support for upcoming events to showcase Penang's arts and craft industry.
