MALAYSIA:

The second China International Import Expo (CIIE 2019) taking place in Malaysian pavilion from Nov 5-10 will be the home for a gold champagne gown worth RMB45 million (RM27 million).

The embroidery for the dress, studded with high-quality jewels and diamonds from Africa, took 968 hours to complete, designed by renowned Malaysian fashion designer Prof. Datuk Jimmy Choo, who is also the creative director of the Atelier brand

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) deputy chief executive officer Sharimahton Mat Saleh said the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China inspired the making of the gown.

The Atelier was established in 1986 in Kuala Lumpur before expanding to Shanghai in 2013. The brand is popular with influential people and artists in China.

Sharimahton said CIIE is the best platform to introduce Malaysian products other than food and beverages to show that Malaysia also has quality creative products that can penetrate the China market.

54 Malaysian companies participated in the expo, which attracted some 2,000 companies from 120 countries.
