SABAH:

Sabah Parks (TTS) launched an online booking system to enable hikers to better plan climbing Mount Kinabalu in Sabah soon.

The system will enable hikers to make a direct reservation and payment without having to go through agent-service services as previously practiced, says Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Jafry Ariffin.

Sabah Parks (TTS) will soon launch an online booking and permit application system to better facilitate hikers planning to climb Mount Kinabalu in Sabah.

“I hope the system can make bookings easier for hikers and will provide fair opportunities for more extreme sports enthusiasts to climb Malaysia’s highest mountain, ” he said at an event in Kota Kinabalu recently.

Jafry said that a local company commissioned by TTS has developed its booking system in order to improve its services to attract national and international tourists.

Furthermore, he said that other TTS online reservation facilities will be developed in the near future.

Jafry said in the meantime that, as part of the travel bubbles initiative, only two tourism companies in the state have received approval, subject to the standard operating procedures established by the authorities.
