SABAH:

To enhance economic opportunities between the two regions, Sabah plans to open a trade and tourism office in Singapore.

Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, the Chief Minister of Sabah, said the state has a long history of trading links with Singapore and that opening an office there would strengthen such ties.
“I'd also like to welcome Singaporean investors to look at prospects under our Halatuju Sabah Maju Jaya development plan, which focuses on high-impact investments, notably in agriculture and tourism,” Hajiji said.
He made the remarks following a virtual conference with Vanu Gopala Menon, Singapore's High Commissioner to Malaysia, during which they discussed a variety of topics, including the containment of the Covid-19 outbreak and steps taken to keep numbers down.

With a trade value of RM133 million as of January this year, Singapore is one of Sabah's top ten trading partners.

Palm oil, fish, crude petroleum, and timber goods are among the ten product categories exported to the island nation.

In 2019 and 2020, Sabah generated over RM7 billion in trade revenue with Singapore.
