SARAWAK:

The country was proud of Sarawak-born musician Alena Murang who won the Buenos Aires Music Video Festival 2020 (BAMVFEST20) with the best styling video prize.

Her music video of 'Midang Midang' was simply astonishing because she displayed the best cultural diversity and identity of Sarawak in her own class in her spellbinding styles and trendy designs.

Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Sarawak, said that the fact that Alena has transported subtle messages of the unique culture, fashions and tradition to be played by Sarawak artist in an attractive music video was truly an honour.

“It is also heartening to see that Alena’s outfits and accessories which were featured in the award-winning music video were (the works of) all our local designers and traditional craft workers,” he said in a statement.

He was delighted to notice that the music video was shot in the Bario Highlands and the beautiful Tusan Beach in Miri that could attract a lot of attention from tourists from other countries particularly those who are interested in the tourist attractions of Sarawak.

“Once again I congratulate Alena and her team for their international award, and it is also an achievement for Sarawak after its unique cultural heritage and traditions got the recognition via a wonderful music video which had garnered 40,000 views on Youtube,” he said.

The video was produced by the Project Room and the Kanid Studio of Alena and was launched on 27 November with the help of the Sarawak Tourism Council (STB) and the City Council of Miri (MCC).
