SARAWAK:

The Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) has launched a virtual tour of the different ethnic homes in the biggest state in Malaysia.

As part of a collaboration with the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), visitors to the living museum’s website will be able to view special short video clips that delve into the various cultures as well.

“While travel in the country may be restricted at the moment, once it does open up, one of the destinations to surely put on one’s list for Cuti-Cuti Malaysia is the biggest state in the country.

“As Sarawak itself is such a vast land, visitors to SCV can experience Sarawak in just half a day by touring this 17-acre (6.8ha) village which provides a glimpse of the culture and lifestyles of the diverse ethnic groups in Sarawak, ” STB said in a statement.

The primary aim of the Sarawak Cultural Village is to preserve the cultural heritage of the state.

Here is where visitors can find replicas of buildings that represent the Bidayuh, Iban, Orang Ulu, Penan, Melanau, Malay and Chinese groups.

As travel restrictions ease all over the world, travel operators are slowly opening for business.

In Malaysia, Sabah was the first state to reopen domestic tourism activities, during the conditional movement control order (CMC0) period.

This phase of the CMCO will end on June 9.
