The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) has earned the Sarawak Tourism Board more recognition for its efforts to grow the tourism industry as a whole. The Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers (MACEOS) who organized the event at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), in Kuala Lumpur saw STB’s CEO, Puan Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor who received the prestigious Malaysia Iconic Event Award 2019.

The award gives recognition to the best events in Malaysia organized to promote the economy and tourism. Sharzede commented that the Rainforest World Music Festival provides the opportunity for everyone to listen to music from all over the world and learn about the different and unique instruments, besides being more than just a music festival.

This year’s festival also saw the use of green initiatives, including the emphasis on biodegradable tableware and discouraging the use of bottled water.
